Statement of Need
When there has been prior treatment failure in a patient with HIV, clinicians need to identify any patient-related, HIV-related, and ART regimen-related factors that may be contributing to virologic failure and drug resistance, and apply guideline-recommended algorithms to clinical decisions for managing ART failure.
The final installment in this CME Outfitters BriefCase series on addressing real-world clinical challenges in optimizing care of HIV includes a case study on Luke, a 41-year-old man, (MSM), diagnosed with HIV 20 years ago, that will show learners how to effectively translate new knowledge of current and emerging treatments into their clinical practice.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this CME/CE activity, participants should be able to:
%End>- Integrate best practices for initiating and switching patients to ART based on safety and efficacy profiles.
- Translate emerging data from national conferences to treatment decisions in clinical practice.
