CME Outfitters Recognized by 27th Annual Telly Awards
Three programs honored with trophies; total of ten CMEO Tellys since 2004
ROCKVILLE, MD - MARCH 7, 2006
CME Outfitters, an independent accredited provider of continuing medical education programming and related healthcare communications services, is proud to announce that three of its recent television productions have been recognized by the 27th Annual Telly Awards. The Telly is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. This brings to ten the total number of Telly Awards won by CME Outfitters since 2004.
CME Outfitters provides content development, accreditation, production, and logistical support for psychCME, a multi-format network of psychiatry-focused continuing education programs originally developed at the Duke University Medical Center. Through this collaboration, CME Outfitters produces psychCME TV, a nationally distributed satellite television series focusing on issues in mental health. In this year's Telly Awards competition, three CME Outfitters-produced psychCME TV broadcasts were recognized as either Winners or Finalists from among all entries. Broadcast titles and the companies providing educational grants for each are listed below:
- WINNER: Reducing Relapse: Case-Based Strategies for Achieving Successful Long-Term Outcomes in Patients with Schizophrenia (Janssen, L.P.)
- FINALIST: Medical Ethics in Mental Health Practice (self-funded by CME Outfitters and psychCME)
- FINALIST: A Surgeon General's Perspective on the Unmet Needs of Patients with Anxiety Disorders (Wyeth Pharmaceuticals)
"It is always so gratifying to see our daily efforts recognized and honored in this way," said Sharon Tordoff, CME Outfitters managing partner and executive co-producer of psychCME TV. "This is validation that our focus on evidence-based educational content, packaged in an engaging format with superior production values, is finding an audience," she added.
"We know that the most clinically relevant content in the world still needs to be served up in a way that's going to attract and hold the attention of the busy practitioners who we serve," noted Jan Perez, CME Outfitters managing partner and executive co-producer of psychCME TV with Ms. Tordoff. "We enjoy the challenge of producing live television and getting all the intricate production details just right. It's a wonderful tribute to our staff and crew when it all comes together and we're very proud of our Tellys."
Ms. Tordoff and Ms. Perez also acknowledged the industry supporters of CME Outfitters programming who underwrite these programs with educational grants. "CME Outfitters has reached hundreds of thousands of front-line clinicians with critical training and education thanks to support from these great companies," they added. "We're grateful for their support, which in a very real way has improved clinical practice and the quality of life for untold numbers of patients."
