ABOUT CME OUTFITTERS

Welcome to CME Outfitters.

We've come a long way since opening our doors in the summer of 2002. In the ensuing years, we have earned a solid reputation for developing and delivering best-in-class, independent continuing medical education. We've carved a particular niche as specialists in the emerging areas of the neurosciences.

But don't let the word "niche" fool you. CME Outfitters has earned elite status for its accreditation practices and we've expanded our offerings to include expert accreditation services for non-accredited organizations. We have ventured into other therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, immunology, inflammatory diseases, oncology, and cardiology, and have been innovating at a breakneck pace as we conceive and build the most engaging adult learning systems available.

CME Outfitters, LLC, has a superlative CME resume, strong affiliations with accrediting bodies, and "Accreditation with Commendation" status from the ACCME for exemplary compliance.

Managing Partners Jan Perez and Sharon Tordoff, and Director of Accredition Beth Brillinger have achieved Certified CME Professional (CCMEP) certification.

It's also important to note that CME Outfitters is certified as a women's business enterprise through the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation's largest third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. We recognize and can facilitate the commitment to supplier diversity that is embraced by corporations and government agencies today.

The CME Outfitters headquarters are in Bethesda, Maryland—at the crossroads of the FDA, the nation's capital, a burgeoning biotech corridor, and in close proximity to many of the nation's leading research, manufacturing, and academic healthcare centers. We've harnessed the latest technology to bring together a staff of professionals in local offices across 10 states stretching from Florida to Colorado.

As we've grown, we've never lost our drive to exceed the expectations of our sophisticated customers in the way that only a boutique firm can.

From intimate live symposia to interactive webcasts and television broadcasts, from complex multimedia to crisply edited monographs, from domestic to international educational initiatives—CME Outfitters thrives on the challenge of delivering an outstanding professional education experience. Book your next educational trek with us, and thank you for your support over the years.

Accreditation Mission Statement

(1) CME Purpose:
The mission and purpose of CME Outfitters (CMEO) is to improve health care for patients by improving clinical competence of the health care team.  CMEO achieves this by developing and distributing credible, evidence-based, continuing education activities and other complementary educational and communication services to the health care industry (joint sponsorship, symposia logistics planning, design services, etc.). The activities and services are designed to increase clinicians' skills, knowledge, competence, and professional performance; to foster their continual professional growth and maintenance of licensure; manage their practice settings, and to support positive change in how clinicians provide care to their patients.

(2) Content Areas:
CMEO develops educational content that supports the narrowing of gaps in professional practice focused on, but not limited to, disorders in the neurosciences. Our CME activities address practice gaps and educational topics such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, pain, and addiction. Additionally, CMEO has an expanded expertise in topics such as rheumatoid arthritis, non-small cell lung cancer, cardiology, and infectious disease.

(3) Target Audience:
CMEO targets physicians for whom a professional practice gap is identified. The target audiences for CMEO activities include physicians, physician assistants, psychologists, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, clinical case managers, and other health care providers with an interest in the activity subject matter. Specific physician target audiences include psychiatrists, child psychiatrists, neurologists, primary care physicians, family physicians, hospitalists, sleep specialists, pediatricians, rheumatologists, pain specialists, and clinicians with an interest in ethics and/or cultural competence. Through convenient and diverse delivery methods, CMEO offers national point-of-care access to evidence-based educational activities focused on improving care of patients.

(4) Types of Activities:
CMEO develops, produces, and delivers traditional and distance learning continuing medical education activities in formats that are designed to satisfy the diverse learning preferences and needs of a national/regional/and local audience. Because adult learners have different learning preferences and individual physician learners have different needs, CMEO develops activities in multiple formats. These formats offer CMEO target audiences a wide range of educational tools to address their professional practice gaps.

Activities are designed to reach physicians and health care providers in their practice settings or at the point of care and through convenient formats, including:

  • Nationally televised satellite broadcasts (live and recorded) simulcast via satellite, web, and telephone bridge
  • Internet webcasts (live and archived)
  • Chart Review webcasts
  • Journal Club webcasts
  • Branch-logic medical simulations
  • Video-based CME Snacks
  • Podcasts
  • Symposia at major medical meetings
  • Medical conferences
  • Text-based activities

(5) Expected Results:

The expected result of CMEO activities is the transfer of clinically relevant knowledge to participants that focuses on translating the latest evidence into improved care of patients. CMEO employs various instructional design techniques to enhance retention of the key clinical messages, application to care, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. CMEO participates in improving patient health and the quality of health care by developing activities that focus on enhancing physician competence.  CMEO measures the results of its activities at the highest appropriate levels, including physician competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

CMEO works diligently to continually assess the educational impact of its CME program various evaluation methods. At a minimum, learners are required to document their acquisition of knowledge in an immediate post-activity evaluation. The attainment of expected results is also measured through our multi-step outcomes evaluation process. These evaluation methods form a feedback loop, allowing CMEO to continually assess linkage of the documented needs to actionable educational gaps. It is the expectation of the CMEO team, our learners, and their patients that CMEO remain a trusted and respected source for evidence-based educational. The constant refinement of the CMEO evaluation proces is an integral part of our definition of success—improved patient care.
